Battling Insomnia
Having trouble sleeping because of stress, anxiety, depression, or similar struggles? It can feel awful lying awake at night after a long, exhausting day. Tossing and turning, checking the clock, getting up for water or a bathroom break… yes, that’s me most nights.
Here are a few things that have helped me (and are still helping) manage insomnia:
• A glass of red wine before bed
• A hot bath or a hot cup of tea
• Exercise — even simple stretching (I do this) or a few push-ups before sleep, if you can but I can't
• Saying a long prayer, like the Rosary — it really works for me 🙂
• Changing your environment, room, or even your sleeping position sometimes
• Avoiding daytime sleep — not even a nap
What methods work for you?
I’d love to hear your ideas — please share!
